Job Description

As a software development intern, you will work directly with our engineering teams on projects that support our business units. This role offers hands-on experience in designing, developing, and testing avionics hardware and software for programs ranging from orbital rockets, ground systems, test stands, to moon landers.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Designing and Developing Software: Designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications with a focus on avionics and flight systems.
  • Collaborating with Teams: Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop, verify, and validate safety-critical, real-time embedded software for launch vehicle systems.
  • Full Software Lifecycle: Participating in the full software lifecycle: requirements analysis, implementation, verification, documentation, and system integration.
  • Programming Languages: Writing and reviewing code primarily in C, C++, and Python for embedded and application environments.
  • Tools and Infrastructure: Creating and maintaining tools and infrastructure to support efficient build, debugging, testing, deployment, and automation.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Programming Experience: Programming experience in at least one major language used here: C, C++, or Python.
  • Software Development Experience: Experience (through coursework, co-ops, internships, or projects) in software development, problem solving, and debugging.
  • Software Verification: Exposure to software verification, test planning/execution, or automated testing.
  • Teamwork and Communication: The ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs. Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for Space Exploration: A passion for Blue's Mission with a strong desire to continuously learn and improve.
