Position Summary
As the Procurement Specialist, you will report directly to the CFO. Your responsibilities will include the acquisition and procurement of third-party goods, packaging, and other essential materials to meet operational needs. You will ensure optimal stock levels to satisfy customer demands, coordinate inventory management, and provide accurate and reliable information. This role includes conducting stocktakes according to company protocols and communicating stock levels with relevant departments.
Your success in this position will hinge on your ability to develop and enhance the procurement function within the organization. This is a remarkable opportunity for someone with substantial experience in procurement within the construction materials or manufacturing sectors, who is a proactive self-starter with a keen analytical perspective.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a small team of 1 direct report
- Oversee the purchase order process to ensure timely deliveries
- Update accounting records related to inventory
- Input data for stock management
- Coordinate stock movements across production functions, ensuring proper allocation
- Provide information to enable purchasers to maximize negotiation time
- Gather sales data and assist in creating trend reports
- Recommend suppliers for goods and materials, obtaining quotes for requests from other departments
- Maintain supplier relationships to ensure material quality meets company standards
- Procure materials, equipment, and supplies at the best price while considering quality and delivery
- Monitor delivery requirements to align with company schedules
- Assist in maintaining efficient records and files
- Prepare purchasing plans to accommodate seasonal demand
- Adhere to the company's procurement policies and procedures
- Manage inventories and keep accurate purchase and pricing records
- Update supplier information, including qualifications and delivery times
- Foster good supplier relations and negotiate contracts
- Research and assess potential suppliers for specialized raw materials
- Prepare cost analyses and reports as needed
- Conduct weekly/monthly stocktakes in line with business needs
- Communicate with key stakeholders regarding stock levels and availability
