Accounting Specialist Role

This position requires a meticulous approach to accounting, including accurate project tracking, reconciliation processes, and financial settlement management.

As an Accounting Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the financial management of active property development projects. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining detailed cost records, performing project reconciliations, and analyzing budget variances.
  • Recording and reconciling settlements in the general ledger, including revenue recognition and cost of goods sold.
  • Conducting regular bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparing and lodging business activity statements (BAS) and ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws.

You will also assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including project-specific cash flow, profit and loss, and budget reporting. Additionally, you will maintain accurate records of invoices, contracts, and project-related financial data.

A successful candidate will have a solid understanding of the development lifecycle (feasibility, construction, completion, settlement), proven experience with settlement bookings and related general ledger entries, and be competent in preparing BAS and performing reconciliations.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, CPA/CA qualification or studying towards, and demonstrate high levels of accuracy, organisational ability, and time management.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in accounting, preferably within property development or a project accounting environment.
  • Solid understanding of the development lifecycle.
  • Proven experience with settlement bookings and related general ledger entries.
  • Competent in preparing BAS and performing reconciliations.
  • High level of accuracy, organisational ability, and time management.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • CPA/CA qualification or studying towards.
