Job Title

Intensive Care Unit Registrar Position Summary

Key Responsibilities:

Delivering high-quality patient care in a 24-bed level 3 adult medical, surgical and cardiothoracic ICU

Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans

Participating in daily rounds, multidisciplinary meetings, and developing procedural skills under supervision

Supervising junior medical staff and liaising with other specialty groups

Developing and practicing team leading and participation skills through the ICU Outreach role

Reviewing acutely unwell ED and ward referrals and coordinating our TPN service

Participating in consultant-led teaching, weekly morbidity and mortality meetings, safety and quality meetings, and journal club

Engaging in research activities and assisting with completion of formal projects

Contributing to a positive culture, patient-centered care, and collaborative communication within the ICU

Undertaking the iValidate program for difficult communication scenarios and end-of-life care

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Current registration as a medical practitioner in Australia

Completion of an approved intensive care fellowship or equivalent experience

Strong clinical knowledge and skills in critical care medicine

Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions

Capacity to contribute to a positive culture and support a culture of respect, compassion, and commitment to consumers and staff
