Rail Engineering Support Specialist

About the Role
As a Survey Assistant with Queensland Rail, you will play a vital role in supporting our Qualified Surveyors undertake survey work within track & civil. Your primary responsibility will be to provide quality, safe and customer-focused engineering solutions across our rail network.
Job Description
- Carry out accurate measuring, data recording and ground marking tasks under the direction of the Senior Surveyors/Engineering Surveyors.
- Prepare for workday activities by restocking and general maintenance of field equipment and survey vehicles.
- Ensure workspace and workshop cleanliness.
- Perform Protection Officer duties on site to ensure a safe work environment.
- Adhere to health, safety and environmental requirements.
About You
We are looking for an individual with a construction/rail or project construction background performing similar Assistant Surveying tasks. Rail Protection Officer (PO) knowledge/qualification would be advantageous but not required at this time. Sound level of maintenance and minor repair of equipment is also essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site inspections to identify potential hazards and implement measures to mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with the survey team to deliver high-quality results and meet project deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records of site activities and survey data.
- Operate survey equipment and perform routine maintenance tasks as required.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Queensland Rail's policies and procedures.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar Assistant Surveying role.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to undergo training and development opportunities.

Estimated Salary Range
$60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Location
This role is based in Brisbane, Queensland, with occasional travel to regional sites.
