Job Title: Senior Mine Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking a commercially driven Senior Mine Accountant to support operational and commercial decision-making on site within our northern based operations.

This role is an excellent opportunity to get involved in an Underground Longwall mining operation providing challenge and responsibility whilst enjoying the balance that comes with working and living closer to the coast.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead the site's end-of-month close and financial reporting processes, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  • Provide detailed cost and variance analysis, with insights to inform decision-making and drive business growth.
  • Partner with operational teams to improve cost visibility, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive efficiency.
  • Manage all aspects of fixed asset accounting in a capital-intensive environment, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities, contributing to the development of strategic business plans.
  • Drive process and systems improvements to help modernise how we operate financially, leveraging technology to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Champion a culture of transparency, accountability, and commercial acumen across site teams, promoting a collaborative and results-driven work environment.

Suitable candidates will have 7+ years' experience in a site-based heavy industrial or mining finance role, possessing depth of skill in cost control, capital accounting, budgeting and reporting.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing them to effectively engage with operational teams and drive change.

Able to identify risks, fix inefficiencies, and drive process improvements, the successful candidate will be a self-motivated and proactive individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
