About the Role

The Great Southern Mental Health Service is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Older Adult Mental Health Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing clinical assessment and treatment for older adults with mental illnesses, as well as supervising and training medical students and junior doctors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical assessment and treatment for older adults with mental illnesses
  • Liaise and confer regularly with general practitioners and other healthcare professionals
  • Supervise and train medical students and junior doctors
  • Initiate and participate in research projects relevant to the operation of the Mental Health Service
  • Participate in the on-call roster for the mental health team and the ECT roster
Requirements
  • Eligible for registration by the Medical Board of Australia as a specialist in psychiatry
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or approved equivalent
  • Extensive clinical experience in older adult mental health
