Senior Environmental Approvals Specialist

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead and/or support a wide variety of environmental approvals for the renewable energy and infrastructure sectors.

This role involves collaborating with other practitioners to execute projects, developing technical skills, project experience, and general consulting and decision-making skills.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading and/or supporting environmental approvals for Commonwealth, State and local jurisdictions as applicable.
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams composed of professionals from multiple offices around the world.
  • Developing skills including technical skills, project experience, and general consulting and decision-making skills.
  • Contributing to proposal development, including development of technical scopes and cost estimates in accordance with company policies and processes.
  • Directing and monitoring project management activities related to projects, including task delegation and direction, subcontractor management, health & safety protocol management, monitoring of commercial performance, quality review of deliverables, and interaction with clients.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental planning or science, or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of relevant infrastructure and/or energy industry experience including environmental approvals/permitting and/or management. Consulting industry experience highly desirable.
  • Experience with and an understanding of the environmental/planning approvals process applicable to QLD projects, therefore a working knowledge of the Planning Act 2016, Vegetation Management Act 199, Nature Conservation Act 1992 and the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 and the affiliated relevant regulator guidance.
  • Experience in managing approvals for infrastructure projects, with experience in the renewables sector desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of project management and experience working as part of an integrated team.
  • Critical thinking skills – i.e. able to synthesize large amounts of data into meaningful outcomes.
  • Excellent report writing, data collation and management/presentation skills.
  • Motivated to proactively contribute to a team environment, share knowledge, skills and ideas.
