About the Role
This is a casual opportunity to work as a Correctional Officer with the NSW Department of Communities and Justice. As a Correctional Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of inmates and staff within the court or cell complex.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage inmates in a court or cell complex setting
- De-escalate conflict situations and provide support to inmates in need
- Conduct security checks and searches of inmates and their property
- Undertake custody-related administration tasks
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to maintain a safe and secure environment
- Respond to emergency situations and provide support as needed
Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 years old
- Current driver's license with no restrictions
- Australia or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency
- Ability to work irregular shift patterns, including evenings and weekends
- Willingness to complete a Certificate III in Correctional Practice
- Meet the medical standards required for the role
- No visible tattoos that may be considered inappropriate or offensive
Additional Requirements for Transport Roles
- Willingness to obtain a Medium Rigid License within 3 months of commencing the role
