About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to work in a correctional setting, providing essential services to the community. As a Correctional Officer, you will be responsible for supervising inmates, de-escalating conflict situations, and undertaking security checks and searches.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise inmates in court or cell complexes, or during transportation
- De-escalate conflict situations, including those involving inmates under stress or affected by drugs
- Undertake security checks and searches, ensuring the safety and security of inmates and staff
- Undertake custody-related administration, including maintaining accurate records and reports
- Work collaboratively in a team environment, providing support and assistance as needed
- Respond to emergency situations, including safely handling a firearm
Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 years old
- Current driver's license (with no restrictions)
- Australia or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Willing to work an average of 2 to 3 days per week
- Available to work irregular shift patterns, including evenings and weekends
- Meet the medical standards to be a correctional officer and have a reasonable level of fitness

Additional Eligibility Criteria for Transport Roles
- Willing to obtain a Medium Rigid License within 3 months of commencing the role (Transport only)
