Job Summary

The role of a Tailings Engineer is critical for ensuring the safety and compliance of mining facilities.

This position requires the application of various tasks, including civil/ geotechnical/tailings dam design, geotechnical analyses, understanding of tailing deposition modelling, site characterisation, instrumentation monitoring systems, project/task management, proposal preparation support, and client development.

  • Civil/geotechnical/tailings dam design;
  • Geotechnical analyses using software packages;
  • Understanding of tailing deposition modelling (Muk3D);
  • Geotechnical and environmental site characterisation;
  • Development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems;
  • Project/task management and proposal preparation support;
  • Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications; and
  • Client Development.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support client's tailings and mine waste management and operational teams to ensure their facilities are safe;
  • Apply various tasks, including civil/ geotechnical/tailings dam design, geotechnical analyses, understanding of tailing deposition modelling, site characterisation, instrumentation monitoring systems, project/task management, proposal preparation support, and client development;
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to ensure compliance with latest standards.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or a related field;
  • At least 8 years of directly relevant experience in a consulting environment;
  • Knowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering software;
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills;
  • Valid Australian driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel.
