About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead our team in developing and implementing software solutions for a major defence program. This is a unique opportunity to work on a high-profile project, where your technical expertise will drive the development of software that meets the highest standards.

The programme is a joint air battle management system that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments. As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning and management of software releases, ensuring smooth promotion through environments and defining processes that maintain configuration control across the program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and manage software release schedules, coordinating with integration, verification & validation (V&V), and delivery teams.
  • Oversee build and deployment pipelines, ensuring efficient promotion through environments.
  • Develop and enforce software release governance processes, balancing speed with quality and compliance.
  • Identify, track, and mitigate software release-related risks and dependencies.
  • Define and refine processes that maintain configuration control across the program.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar—or equivalent experience.
  • Strong skills in release management, scheduling, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. GitLab pipelines).
  • Proven experience with version control and repository management (e.g. GitLab, Nexus).
  • Solid understanding of Agile/DevSecOps practices.
