Job Description

As a Research Scientist, you will be responsible for designing and developing cutting-edge algorithms and fused sensor systems for mining and aerospace applications.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physics, mathematics, or computer science, with experience in computer vision and algorithm design.

You will work closely with the Mining Geoscience Team to develop innovative solutions that drive business growth and improve safety and productivity in the mining industry.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • PhD (or equivalent combination of qualifications and research experience) in a relevant field such as physics, mathematics, computer science, with experience in computer vision.
  • Strong publication history of authorship on scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and/or reports, grant applications, or inventorship on patent applications.
  • At least several years' experience in prototyping, designing, testing, and documenting algorithms in computer vision applications.

The position is based in Brisbane, co-located with the 3D Vision Laboratory at QCAT.

As a part of the Mining Geoscience Team, you will contribute to cutting-edge R&D, including algorithm design and sensor fusion system designs, while using technologies such as computer vision, lidar, time-of-flight, radar, accelerometers, and other sensing modalities.

Applications would be assessed across two capability levels, and the successful candidate will be appointed at the level commensurate with their skills and experience.
