Seeking a seasoned operations leader to spearhead terminal operations.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the execution of Terminal Operations Plan, fostering a culture of safety and productivity.

Main Responsibilities
  • Strategically lead and direct terminal shift operations, ensuring seamless execution, safe working conditions and efficient labor allocation.
  • Coach and mentor operational staff on performance enhancement, attendance management, conduct expectations and adherence to industrial agreements.
  • Ensure robust compliance with all Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) standards, drive incident investigations and promote a strong safety culture within the team.
  • Execute vessel operations plans, coordinating quay crane activities and maintaining accurate operational records.
  • Support landside operations, including truck turnaround, bulk runs and yard efficiency initiatives.
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with stakeholders such as shipping lines, transport companies, government authorities and contractors.
  • Maintain operational costs, including labor usage, call-ins and equipment allocation within budget constraints.
  • Foster continuous improvement in shift Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including Gross Moves Per Hour (GMPH), Total Terminal Time (TTT), Ship Turnaround Time (SCR) and workforce efficiency metrics.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, logistics, engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in terminal operations within transport, marine or stevedoring sectors.
  • Proven track record in leading large-scale, 24/7 operational teams.
  • Experience in container or bulk port operations with a deep understanding of vessel and yard workflows.
  • Skilled in managing industrial relations within unionized environments.
  • Strong knowledge of cargo handling procedures, terminal operating systems and workforce management systems.
  • Solid understanding of stevedoring-related legal, commercial and contractual obligations.
  • Well-versed in WH&S legislation, MO32 and terminal safety policies and procedures.
