Job Overview

The Manager Statistical Analysis role is responsible for leading a small team in performing complex quantitative analyses to inform business planning, policy development, and service reform.

  • Build predictive models to better understand future service demand and supply issues.
  • Develop projections of the demand population for various services.
  • Analyse the impact of programs or reform initiatives on client outcomes.
  • Examine non-administrative datasets such as ABS Census data.
  • Investigate administrative datasets including linked services provided by other government departments.
  • Undertake advanced analytics tasks.
  • Provide support with survey design, sampling, and analysis.
  • Offer expert advice on quantitative methodology.
Key Responsibilities

The Manager Statistical Analysis is accountable for managing project teams to undertake specialist statistical analysis and modelling projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing high-quality quantitative analysis and modelling.
  • Developing strategies to build a policy evidence base.
  • Conducting statistical analysis and modelling to identify emerging issues impacting Government objectives.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure effective interface between program development, planning, service design, and policy implementation.
  • Managing team performance, work planning, coaching, and professional development initiatives.
Required Skills and Qualifications

For this role, we require candidates with expertise in statistics, econometrics, mathematics, or a related field, and experience in leading and managing high-quality quantitative analysis and modelling. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across stakeholders are essential. Additionally, we seek individuals with knowledge and experience in programming languages such as SPSS or R, and a proven track record in managing, mentoring, and developing people.
