The Centre of Policy Studies is seeking an Urban Economic Modeller to join its team. This role involves undertaking research in the development, parameterisation and application of large-scale urban economic models.

About the Role

An opportunity exists for a highly motivated researcher with strong quantitative skills to join the economic modelling team at Victoria University.

CoPS specialises in the development and application of large-scale computable general equilibrium (CGE) models. Its researchers are the creators of a number of high profile CGE models, and the CGE modelling software package, GEMPACK, used at more than 700 sites in over 95 countries.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake research in the development, parameterisation and application of large-scale urban economic models. This will involve working under the broad direction of the Director of CoPS and other senior CoPS staff.

About the Person

The position is suited to a researcher with strong quantitative skills and a background in urban, regional or transport economics or econometrics, or in related fields of allied disciplines.

The ideal candidate will have experience in developing and applying large-scale economic models, and a strong understanding of policy analysis and decision-making processes.

Duties
  • Undertake economic research for diverse funding agencies, nationally and internationally
  • Develop and apply large-scale economic models
  • Train others in the development and application of large-scale economic models

The successful candidate will be part of a high-performing and motivated team, working on a variety of projects and contributing to the growth and development of the Centre of Policy Studies.
