This role provides leadership in delivering an innovative suicide prevention program, SafeHaven. The goal is to offer rapid access to compassionate care for people in suicidal crisis and support access to appropriate services.
Main Responsibilities- Lead high quality recovery oriented, trauma informed support for individuals using the SafeHaven, collaborating with Peer Suicide Prevention Workers.
- Deliver a comprehensive suicide prevention program as an alternative to emergency departments.
- Facilitate education to staff and community members on suicide prevention; support program development and quality improvement.
- Cover evening shifts, as the SafeHaven operates 5pm – 9pm, six days a week.
- Coordinate with health staff, services, and stakeholders to ensure safe transfer of care and access to psychosocial supports.
- Provide supervision and support to staff through reflective supervision and ongoing training.
- Tertiary qualifications in a health-related field or extensive relevant experience working with individuals experiencing suicidal crisis.
- A strong understanding of suicide prevention needs and commitment to reducing suicide in the community.
- Experience managing staff, service development, and quality improvement.
- Experience delivering recovery-oriented, trauma-informed work and safety planning with individuals experiencing suicidal distress.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to navigate health systems and coordinate transfer of care; provide authoritative advice on psychosocial supports.
- Highly developed communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills; ability to develop relationships with stakeholders.
- Effective time management and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Experience developing, establishing, maintaining, and reviewing performance indicators and reporting systems.
- Eligibility lists may be created for future temporary positions.
