Aboriginal Homelessness Practitioner

About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and passionate Aboriginal Homelessness Practitioner to join our team. As the first point of contact for clients entering or seeking homeless support, you will play a critical role in embedding an innovative Aboriginal designed service model.
Key Responsibilities- Build safe, trusting, and consistent relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and their community members.
- Grow our clients' support system and ensure they are referred to and can access any necessary supports.
- Timely record keeping of client information as per data collection methodology in program operational manual.
- Ability to recognize and assess risk, and escalate where required.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with vulnerable and at-risk populations, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and communities. You will have a strong understanding of collective culture and be able to build relationships with clients and their community members.
Requirements- Cert IV in Community Services or related field, or relevant experience in lieu of.
- Previous experience in working with vulnerable and at-risk people, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and communities.
- Track record of successfully engaging with clients and building relationships.
- Organized, strong time management, and administration skills.
- Highly developed written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to persuasively apply them in a complex working environment.
