About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer to join our coastal and maritime team. As a technical lead, you will be responsible for delivering high-profile projects in Australia and the Pacific region, working closely with our clients to ensure successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentor and supervise junior engineers and consultants in technical works and assist in professional development
- Assist in business development, including meeting with clients, writing capability statements, and preparing marketing materials
- Check and review staff work, both within and outside the firm, as required
- Undertake all office and company procedures necessary for the company to properly conduct its business
- Participate in in-house training and various site safety courses
Account Management
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and running high-profile client accounts in our key sectors. You will be expected to maximize market value from these clients through constant account management techniques.
Training and Knowledge Transfer
You will provide encouragement and learning opportunities for staff to support ongoing and future business and further career development. You will also consult and liaise with colleagues to share information, lessons learnt, and innovative approaches to problem solving.
About You
- Have practical experience working with modellers, ecologists, and engineers to deliver robust solutions
- Have practical experience in modelling (hydrodynamic, surface water, and EIA)
- Highly effective technical and practical engineering/environmental skills in the relevant discipline
- Achievement of financial and business targets
- Strong client liaison, management, and relationship development skills
- Ability to direct and advise on technical matters, teach, mentor, and manage project teams
- Excellent verbal and writing communication skills
- Excellent self-management skills, and experience in leading a design team
- Confident, team player, independent thinker, good organisational skills, personable
- Ability to contribute to the growth of the business by identifying, tracking, and executing opportunities
- Knowledge of the coastal and catchment environments and the legislation surrounding its conservation and management within Australia
- Track record of successful business development and project management
