Position: Actuarial Analyst
Role Overview
The Actuarial Analyst is an integral member of the Commercial Valuation team, operating under the guidance of the Appointed Actuary. This role is focused on delivering actuarial, analytical, and technical expertise to support the assessment of Commercial lines of business.
Key Responsibilities
As an Actuarial Analyst, you will provide essential support to the Manager of Commercial Valuation, which includes:
- Valuations & Reporting: Conducting half-yearly valuations that significantly influence the company's profitability and balance sheet outcomes, along with supplementary analyses, development of reporting tools, and presentation of findings.
- Forecasting & Business Planning: Assisting in budget preparation and prospective profitability assessments.
Your actuarial, analytical, and technical contributions will encompass:
- Data preparation, validation, and thorough analysis.
- Collaboration with senior team members to evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of models and results.
- Documentation of processes, analyses, and investigations conducted.
- Preparation of reports and presentation of results.
Engage collaboratively with various teams across the organization, including portfolio management, reinsurance, claims, and finance, to optimize business outcomes.
Qualifications
- A strong academic background with a degree emphasizing mathematics and statistics (mandatory).
- Currently pursuing Fellowship with the Institute of Actuaries Australia (mandatory).
- Completion of Part I and II examinations (desired).
- 0-2 years of experience in general insurance within an actuarial capacity (desired).
- Proficiency in spreadsheet modeling (Excel) and data extraction (SQL or SAS) (preferred).
- Strong analytical skills with logical thinking capabilities.
- IT proficiency, particularly in spreadsheets, databases, and data structures.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and possess strong communication skills.
