Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations to maintain efficiency and quality.
  • Design menus and craft weekly specials that reflect our culinary vision.
  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes utilizing diverse Chinese cooking methods.
  • Guide and instruct the kitchen team in food preparation, seasoning, and presentation techniques.
  • Delegate tasks to kitchen personnel and manage high-volume production during peak service times.
  • Monitor food costs, manage inventory levels, and reduce food waste effectively.
  • Collaborate with management to ensure prompt service, address food-related concerns, and organize staff schedules.
  • Train new kitchen staff and assist in the recruitment process as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety standards and hygiene regulations.

Qualifications:

  • A Certificate IV in commercial cookery, diploma in hospitality management, or a related qualification is essential.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Chinese chef in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Familiarity with Asian/Chinese cuisine is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of food nutrition, hygiene, and safety practices.
  • Strong time management skills coupled with a positive work ethic.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) is preferred.
  • Able to perform under pressure while demonstrating passion, responsibility, and reliability.
