Head of Learning Area

The Department of Education, Western Australia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the position of Head of Learning Area - Health and Physical Education. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong understanding of the Western Australian curriculum and a proven track record of delivering high-quality educational programs.
Key Responsibilities- Provide educational leadership across the Health and Physical Education learning area and broader school community.
- Develop and implement the Health and Physical Education curriculum to ensure successful student outcomes.
- Lead the delivery of the Health and Physical Education program and develop the professional practice of the Health and Physical Education team.
- Strategic leadership to ensure value-adding, innovative curriculum pathways that offer diverse opportunities for students to develop the capabilities to succeed within and beyond school.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, and the broader community to achieve planned outcomes.
- Registration with the Teachers Registration Board of Western Australia.
- A valid Working With Children Check.
- A National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.
- A strong working knowledge of and commitment to leading the implementation of research-based high-impact teaching practices.
- Highly effective organisational and event management skills.
- A detailed knowledge of the Year 7-10 Western Australian Health and Physical Education curricula, Outdoor Education, and Senior School course offerings.
