Job Title: Infrastructure Expert

The role involves designing, implementing and retiring infrastructure that supports digital services.

This includes physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure. As a Senior Engineer, you will use your in-depth knowledge of ICT platforms to provide expert advice on the management and maintenance of those platforms.

You will work closely with key third-party suppliers to ensure the provision of a robust infrastructure capability for the business. Your duties may include:

  • Designing and evaluating infrastructure requirements to meet future demand
  • Providing expert technical support for project build, test and solution deployment activities
  • Preparing and reviewing documentation, including design documentation, implementation plans, test plans and support procedures
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of strategies, operational policy and procedures, and change initiatives
  • Participating in change management processes and communicating end-to-end implications of configuration changes
  • Providing detailed technical advice, including strategic advice to senior executives
  • Sharing knowledge and expertise as a subject matter expert, and aiding and mentoring less experienced colleagues
  • Undertaking research on emerging technologies and providing recommendations on product suitability
  • Engaging and partnering with other agencies and service providers to build service delivery capability

Requirements:

  • At least five years' demonstrated experience in designing, managing and maintaining internet gateways and/or large-scale data centre networking environments
  • Demonstrated experience and technical proficiency in the design of services utilising F5/Blue Coat Layer 4-7 switching/load balancing and proxy systems
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and deploying network infrastructure, including Cisco Data Centre technologies
  • Demonstrated experience with and/or detailed understanding of Palo Alto firewalls and IPS solutions
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing VPN technologies, email and DNS solutions
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and integrating hybrid and public cloud services
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining system architecture and design documentation
  • Demonstrated experience with or knowledge of Australian Government information security policies and the ASD Information Security Manual
