Fire and Emergency Communications Officer

The Queensland Fire Department provides fire prevention, preparedness, and response services to the built and landscape environments.

As a Fire and Emergency Communications Officer, you will play a crucial role in emergency call taking, dispatching on-scene communications, coordinating and managing QFD resources.

Key aspects of this role include accepting incoming fire and other emergency incident calls, assessing risks associated with situations, and determining the appropriate response and/or resources to be dispatched.

  • Accept incoming fire and other relevant emergency incident calls and enquiries.
  • Assess the risks associated with a situation and determine the appropriate response and/or resources to be despatched.
  • Despatch and coordinate appropriate resources to calls for assistance and notify other organisations.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Currently holds a valid Blue Card with attached evidence to support.
  • Australian Citizenship, New Zealand Citizenship or Australian Resident Status.
  • Certificate III in Public Safety (Emergency Communications Centre Operations).
  • Ability to successfully complete training programs of the Communications Training and Professional Development Program (CTPDP).
