The Opportunity

We are seeking a vocationally registered GP to join our clinical team in Lightning Ridge. As a GP VMO, you will be an integral part of our team providing essential healthcare services in a remote area. You will work with other GPs and a multi-disciplinary team, enjoying a supportive and flexible work environment.

The role involves a variety of GP sessions, ED cover, ward rounds, and on-call work, all shared across the service to ensure adequate rest periods. Our multi-purpose service has 4 ED & 4 Acute beds, 1 respite bed, and a 19-bed residential aged care service. The General Practice operates Monday to Friday, with mobile x-ray and visiting allied health specialists coming to town.

The Location

Lightning Ridge is a thriving mining town filled with hundreds of obsessed diggers hoping to find the famous black opal. Situated near the NSW and QLD border, it is 4 hours' from Dubbo Airport. The town is known for its wildly eccentric and sometimes bizarre experiences, making it a unique place to live and work.

Essential Criteria

You must be a vocationally registered GP (FRACGP or FACRRM) with recent rural emergency experience and a current ALS2 (or equivalent) certificate.
