About the Role

You will be responsible for assisting and providing high-quality clinical assessment, management, and consultation to patients with conditions applicable to the specialty of General Surgery at Macquarie University Hospital.

  • Experience elective and emergency general surgery in a private hospital setting.
  • Be mentored and work alongside senior consultants in colorectal and upper GI surgery.
  • Be exposed to a wide range of complex surgical cases including robotic surgery.
  • Develop manuscripts and research projects.
  • Participate in research projects and clinical trials.
  • Supervise and train students, residents, and other doctors in training.
About the Ideal Candidate

We are looking for dedicated and passionate individuals who are committed to clinical care, education, and research. You should have experience working within busy inpatient settings, while balancing supervision, teaching, and mentoring of junior staff and medical students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical service within the scope of practice as granted by the MUH Medical Advisory Committee and approved by the MUH Board to patients of MUH and the Clinic.
  • Provide specialist liaison and consultation service to patients in conjunction with the clinical supervisor as required by other accredited practitioners who provide medical care at or in connection with MUH.
  • Liaise and work effectively with nursing staff, allied health professionals, and other stakeholders involved in patient care.
  • Perform ward rounds and ensure appropriate arrangements are made for patients on discharge from MUH.
  • Participate in clinical quality activities, such as peer review, root cause analysis, and mortality and morbidity meetings.
