- Provide oral and written legal advice to members and Avant Insurance claims managers on civil litigation, legal claims, and general medico-legal advice.
- Prepare and manage legal files relating to civil claims and other matters, contributing to the delivery of a superior and comprehensive legal service.
- Represent members in legal proceedings, attend court, and through clear and persuasive advocacy achieve the best outcome for the member.
- Relevant tertiary legal qualifications.
- Holds a practising certificate as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia.
- Experience in defendant insurance litigation or defendant personal injury litigation in the NSW jurisdiction.
- Medical negligence experience is highly regarded.
- The ability to express ideas effectively with proven excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of prioritisation, time management, and self-management skills.
- Good computer literacy and competency to work in an electronic document management environment.
Avant is Australia's largest specialist medico-legal law firm, providing a pipeline of work from its instructing client, Avant Insurance. As a member of the team, you will work on a portfolio of medical negligence civil claims and have responsibility for the day-to-day carriage of claims, with appropriate supervision and guidance.
