Medical Laboratory Position

The Royal Children's Hospital is Australia's leading children's hospital. We are committed to providing high-quality healthcare services to our patients and their families.

This is a fixed-term, full-time position in the Cell Therapy and Flow Cytometry Laboratory. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will be responsible for performing laboratory duties as directed by the Scientist-in-Charge.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic laboratory tests following techniques and procedures documented in laboratory manuals.
  • Participate in professional development activities to ensure that best laboratory practice is maintained.
  • Perform quality control testing, interpret data and follow-up non-conformances as documented.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance Programmes as directed.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and report to senior staff, any instrument malfunction.
  • Maintain consumables stock to ensure continuity of testing.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent qualification.
  • Professional experience in a diagnostic pathology laboratory with experience in Haematopoietic Stem Cell Processing and/or Diagnostic Flow Cytometry desirable.
  • Good laboratory, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work well within a team as well as a service focus approach.
