We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Chef to join our kitchen team at a renowned childcare institution. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving fresh meals and snacks for children aged 0-5.

About the Role
  • Plan and develop rotating menus that cater to dietary, allergy, and cultural needs, ensuring diversity and inclusivity.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and compliant kitchen environment at all times, adhering to high standards of food safety and hygiene.
  • Manage inventory, food ordering, and kitchen documentation with precision and attention to detail.
  • Work closely with the Centre Director and Educators to support overall wellbeing, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification is mandatory.
  • Experience working in a childcare environment is essential, as it provides a unique understanding of the nutritional needs of young children.
  • ACT Working with Vulnerable People Registration (WWVP) is required, demonstrating a commitment to safeguarding vulnerable populations.
  • Valid Food Safety Supervisor Certificate is necessary, showcasing expertise in food handling and preparation.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is preferred, highlighting a proactive approach to workplace health and safety.
  • Understanding of HACCP and food safety regulations is crucial, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
  • Strong time management, planning, and communication skills are vital, enabling effective teamwork and collaboration.
