As an Insurance Lawyer, you will provide in-house legal, regulatory, and governance advice to Zurich's businesses in Australia, enabling them to achieve their strategic and commercial goals, protect and preserve the company's assets, and identify, manage, and mitigate legal, regulatory, and reputational risks.
In particular, the role involves drafting, advising on, and negotiating commercial technology contracts and providing professional legal advice on a broad range of matters in the following areas:
- general corporate and commercial law
- technology, branding, and intellectual property
- data protection and privacy law
- financial services law, including financial advice and distribution law
- regulatory inquiries and investigations
- competition and consumer protection law
- commercial disputes and litigation
Zurich wants to attract the best talent, acknowledging that talent might not always be available full-time. Therefore, we will also consider part-time working arrangements for this role.
Please note this is a 12-month contract role and can be considered as a part-time role, 3-4 days a week.
About the RoleThe ideal candidate will have:
- Recognised Australian legal qualifications and eligibility to practice law in New South Wales.
- 5+ years PQE experience across general corporate and commercial law disciplines working in a law firm or in-house position.
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex technology contracts.
- Experience working in and knowledge of the insurance and broader financial services industry would be advantageous.
- Ability to receive instructions, analytically assess issues, and communicate advice clearly and in a non-legalistic way.
- Strong written communications skills and ability to produce a variety of documents that demonstrate command of language, clarity of thought, and orderliness of presentation.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build and maintain trustful, working relationships at all levels of the organisation; able to demonstrate professional and tactful customer relationship skills.
Zurich offers a competitive salary package, estimated to be around $160,000 - $200,000 AUD per annum, depending on experience, plus additional benefits.
