Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Legal Professional to join our team as an Army Lawyer.

As an Army Lawyer, you will be part of a dynamic and stimulating legal environment where you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of disciplines including disciplinary, administrative, operations, civil and commercial law. You will also be trained to lead and mentor a team of passionate lawyers, motivating them to succeed in their work.

The fields of military legal practice are constantly evolving and expanding, providing plenty of challenging opportunities for someone who loves a challenge.

Throughout your career, you will have the opportunity to advance your skillset with short courses and additional qualifications. You will also have the opportunity to travel around Australia and abroad.

In addition to a highly competitive salary from day one, pay will increase as you progress through training. On completion of your initial military and employment training, you could earn up to A$105,076 per annum plus a generous super.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality legal services across a range of disciplines.
  • Lead and mentor a team of lawyers to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Engage in legal aid requirements and related activities as part of military legal practice.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development through short courses and qualifications.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Admitted as a Barrister and/or Solicitor of the High Court of Australia, or of the Supreme Court of a State or Territory of Australia.
  • Preference given to candidates with more than 18 months of Solicitor experience.
  • Australian citizen and able to obtain security clearance.
  • If not an Australian citizen, you may still be eligible to join the ADF if you meet certain criteria.
