About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Clinician to join our Community Mental Health Team based in the Gippsland Region. As a senior CAMHS Mental Health Clinician, you will conduct assessments and deliver high-quality treatment within a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct timely assessments as determined by risk, urgency, distress, dysfunction, and disability using the National Mental Health Triage Scale.
  • Perform urgent acute clinical assessments and routine assessments while working with consumers and carers in safety planning.
  • Work within a recovery-based framework to promote holistic treatment.
  • Complete intake and assessment documents, and where services continue, recovery documents.
  • Utilize current evidence-based practice and interventions to support consumers.
  • Collaborate with community organizations to meet identified needs.
  • Monitor consumers' physical/medical states as appropriate and promote associated treatments.
  • Provide pharmacological/psycho-education specific to each consumer's identified needs.
  • Deliver direct clinical work including individual, group, or family sessions.
  • Facilitate access to relevant services for consumers.
  • Undertake regular reviews and discharge planning with consumers, carers, significant others, and the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Adhere to responsible rostering and leave management practices.
  • Document treatment and support in a comprehensive, factual, and sequential manner.
  • Participate in clinical supervision.
About You

We are looking for an ideal candidate who has:

  • A completed degree/diploma in Social Work, with eligibility for membership with the AASW.
  • Minimum 2 years of post-registration experience in the Mental Health field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, National Standards for Mental Health Services 2010, National Standards for the Mental Health Workforce 2013, and NSQHS standards.
  • Possesses an understanding of relevant legislation and practice frameworks related to family violence practice.
  • Proven clinical experience within Child and Youth mental health.
  • Good level of understanding of the mental health system in both primary and tertiary service operations.
  • Capacity to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team structure.
  • Sound knowledge of early childhood development.
  • Ability to perform comprehensive risk assessments and crisis management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external services.
  • Current driver's license.
