Job Overview

A Civil Engineering Project Manager will oversee field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's civil aspects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning and conduct of independent Civil work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of Civil engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on a medium size project or assignment.
  • Direct the design, development, modification, and evaluation of Civil components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and Design Control Check List (DCCL).
  • Review and approve key engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.
  • Design structures using advanced knowledge of civil engineering in the areas of hydrology, hydraulics, road design and pavement design, geotechnical and earthworks.
  • Determine the appropriate use of various civil elements such as earthworks, pavement, rock, concrete, etc. to ensure appropriate material is used based on project requirements.
  • Originate and check complex Civil engineering deliverables, such as calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.
  • Coordinate and interface with day-to-day technical work of personnel and communicate complex technical issues to upper management.
  • Develop conceptual designs for Civil projects or those with specialized requirements.
  • Support preparation of estimates, staffing needs, and schedules; prepare discipline estimates and work plans in alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Coordinate with client representatives to obtain approval of Civil aspects of the work.
  • Conduct or lead special studies of new Civil engineering methods, materials, and techniques.
  • Mentor Civil engineering personnel through on-the-job training.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 15+ years of relevant experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).
  • Recently supervised team during study and detail design phase of project(s).
