Empowering Koorie Young People

This role provides culturally safe mentoring and guidance to support Koorie young people in re-engaging with education, training, or employment.

Foster self-determination, connection to culture, and personal growth while working closely with families, community organisations, and support services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Koorie young people in developing life skills and achieving their educational goals.
  • Work collaboratively with community organisations and service providers to ensure culturally safe pathways for Koorie young people.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with families and communities to promote trust and understanding.
  • Stay up-to-date with local resources and services that support Koorie young people.
Requirements
  • Certificate IV in Community Services or related field with experience in youth engagement and cultural support.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches.
  • Experience working with Koorie young people, ensuring culturally safe and supportive pathways.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and rapport.
  • Knowledge of barriers impacting Koorie students and strategies to enhance engagement.
  • Commitment to collaboration with families, community organisations, and service providers.
