Job detailsAre you passionate about supporting Koorie young people on their education and career journey? As a Koorie Transition Mentor at GOTAFE, you will provide culturally safe mentoring and guidance to help young Aboriginal people re-engage with education, training, or employment. This role is about fostering self-determination, connection to culture, and personal growth while working closely with families, community organisations, and support services.
This is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander designated position, classified under Section 12 Special Measures of the Equal Opportunity Act
This employment opportunity is only available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
As the successful candidate you will have:
- A Certificate IV in Community Services or a related field, with experience in youth engagement and cultural support.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches.
- Experience working with Koorie young people, ensuring culturally safe and supportive pathways.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and rapport.
- Knowledge of barriers impacting Koorie students and strategies to enhance engagement.
- A commitment to collaboration with families, community organisations, and service providers.
If you are successful in this role you will be required to provide:
- A current Police Check (date of issue is to be no more than 6 months prior to commencement date)
- A current Working with Children Check - Employee (or proof of application)
- A current Driver's Licence (Car).
The salary is PACCT 5 under the GOTAFE Enterprise PACCT Agreement 2023.
