The Role
We are seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of civil construction projects. This role is critical to the business, as it directly contributes to securing new projects and driving company growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare estimates
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor services
- Attend pre-tender meetings and site inspections
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to develop estimates
- Prepare tender submissions and proposals for both government and private clients
- Manage relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, sourcing competitive quotes
- Perform risk analysis and identify potential cost-saving opportunities
- Monitor project costs and variations throughout the life of the project
Key Requirements
- Relevant qualifications in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field
- Proven experience in estimating for civil construction projects, including roads, drainage, earthworks, and utilities
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Benchmark, Expert Estimation, or similar)
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of local government tender processes and industry regulations
