About the OpportunityWe are seeking a skilled Commis Chef to join our team at Carlotta, a new Mediterranean restaurant in Canberra. As a Commis Chef, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, training and coaching our cooks, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and consistency.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Head Chef in managing the kitchen and ensuring efficient service
- Train and coach cooks to maintain high standards of quality and consistency
- Develop and implement new menu ideas and recipes
- Monitor and control food costs, inventory, and waste
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulations
- 2+ years of experience as a Commis Chef in a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant environment
- Strong knowledge of Mediterranean cuisine and cooking techniques
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Full-time availability, including weekends and public holidays
