Job Description

The Policy Officer / Economist will provide timely, accurate, accessible, and fit-for-purpose advice on complex economic, financial, and/or public policy issues. Key responsibilities include:

  • Analysing and interpreting information, including quantitative data sets
  • Contributing to and managing projects to inform policy development
  • Communicating with and influencing internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborating within and outside the team on economic, financial, and/or public policy projects

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must demonstrate:

  • An understanding of the role and influence of state government in policy-making
  • Ability to shape stakeholders' views and support informed decision-making on complex issues
  • Conceptual and problem-solving skills to solve complex and ambiguous problems
  • Experience using economic frameworks and tools for policy advice would be advantageous
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex issues persuasively in plain language
  • Teamwork skills to work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders
