About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Officer to join our payroll team, reporting directly to the Payroll Superintendent. This role involves managing the end-to-end payroll process for employees across multiple mining sites and corporate functions. You will ensure payroll is delivered accurately and on time, while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation, company policies, and enterprise agreements. In addition, you will provide ongoing support to employees and internal teams with payroll-related inquiries and tasks.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  1. Process end-to-end payroll for fortnightly, monthly, and out-of-cycle pay runs.
  2. Maintain and process payroll system data, ensuring accuracy in employee records, leave balances, attendance, overtime, and entitlements.
  3. Process new starters, terminations, and leave payouts.
  4. Assist with preparing and reconciling superannuation, payroll tax, Coal LSL Levy, and other statutory obligations.
  5. Support the processing and reconciliation of salary sacrifice, novated leases, and other payroll deductions.
  6. Ensure compliance with legislative changes and update payroll policies, procedures, and practices as needed.
  7. Collaborate with HR, Finance, and site-based teams to support payroll-related matters.
  8. Provide support and handle payroll-related queries from employees and internal stakeholders.
  9. Perform other administrative payroll tasks as required.

About You:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  1. 1 - 3 years of practical experience in Payroll.
  2. Knowledge of related legislation relating to Industrial Awards/Enterprise Agreements, PAYG, FBT, payroll tax.
  3. Experience in dealing with blue collar and white-collar payroll.
  4. Experience with liaising with employees and management on all payroll enquiries.
  5. Experience with Pulse Vantage or similar payroll system.
  6. Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  7. Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  8. Customer-focused approach with a problem-solving mindset.
  9. Self-motivated with strong organisational and time management abilities.
  10. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll data with integrity.
