Job Title

The role of a Practice Manager at the Queensland Government's Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is a vital position within the state's justice system.

As a key member of the team, you will oversee daily operations, manage workloads, and coordinate staff leave arrangements. You will mentor and develop a team of legal officers and support staff, handle a caseload of complex matters, and represent the ODPP at court events.

About Your Opportunity

This is a 12-month opportunity with the possibility of extension, offering the chance to engage with some of the state's most pressing legal matters while making a genuine difference in the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Timely Delivery of Commitments
  • Monitor and report on team performance and outputs, resolving issues as they arise.
  • Efficient Workflow Management
  • Oversee file allocations and circuit responsibilities.
  • Leadership and Mentorship
  • Provide leadership, motivation, and mentorship to staff, while contributing to the development and delivery of targeted training programs for legal and support staff.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build and maintain strong networks with internal and external stakeholders, consulting and negotiating to achieve positive outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Admission as a Legal Practitioner in a State or Territory of Australia.
  • Demonstrated criminal litigation experience, strong advocacy skills in Magistrates and/or higher courts, and the ability to manage and motivate staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with diverse stakeholders and address the needs of victims of crime with care and professionalism.
