About the Role

The position of Child and Family Practitioner plays a vital role in supporting foster care arrangements, focusing on the well-being and protection of children and young people. You will work closely with foster carers, children, government agencies, and stakeholders to develop and implement individualised care plans that meet the 'standards of care' required by QLD government.

This is an 8-month Full-time Max Term position based in our Toowoomba office. We are seeking an experienced professional who can provide skilled support and supervision to foster carers, ensuring the needs of vulnerable children are met.

Key Responsibilities:
  • You will undertake child-focused casework practice, working in partnership with government agencies, families, and other stakeholders to assess and plan for the needs of children.
  • Provide ongoing support and supervision to Foster Carers, helping them navigate their caring responsibilities for children and young people in their home.
  • Support and supervise Foster Carers through regular home visits and phone calls, ensuring they have the necessary resources and guidance to care for children effectively.
  • Assist Foster Carers in developing case plans, implementing strategies to address the needs of children, and providing ongoing support to help them succeed in their caring roles.
  • Supervise direct reports, ensuring they receive the guidance and support needed to excel in their positions.
  • Develop and implement risk assessments, cultural support plans, safety plans, and behavioural support plans as required.
  • Maintain accurate records, including documentation of carer renewals, foster care agreements, file notes, and CIRTS database entries.
Requirements

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with:

  • A recognised degree qualification in Social Work or Psychology or a related field.
  • Significant experience in the child protection and out-of-home care sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals, families, and communities from a strength-based, culturally appropriate perspective.
  • Experience in identifying strengths and areas for improvement in individuals within the context of providing foster and/or host care, with a focus on permanency for children in care.
  • A current Driver's Licence.
