Medical Educator and Simulation Specialist

As an experienced medical professional, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Education and Simulation Senior Registrar. In this position, you will play a key part in coordinating medical education programs within our Emergency Department, working closely with consultant staff to deliver high-quality education and training to Resident and Registrars.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their skills as an educator in simulation design, events management, and debriefing multidisciplinary in situ simulations. They will also be responsible for running monthly immersive multidisciplinary simulations at our nearby Curtin Sim Lab, as well as developing a weekly education curriculum to support their own professional development.
This is a part-time position (0.5FTE, 40 hours per fortnight) offered on a six-month contract, commencing in Semester 1 2025. The role can be combined with a Senior Registrar Emergency Role to make it full-time. Our Emergency Department has a strong reputation for providing excellent care, with a broad clinical experience that includes Paediatrics (17% of presentations), Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and Stroke Service.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Assisting in the preparation and facilitation of various medical education programs at all levels (medical student, RMO, Registrar, ACEM exam preparation and courses)
- Undertaking professional development in the medical education field with a prescribed university course or agreed alternative
- Undertaking at least one project to improve education quality within the Emergency Department
- Reporting to a designated medical education supervisor regularly to discuss progress
- Providing clinical supervision and teaching to Registrar, Resident Medical Officers, Interns, and medical students
