About the Role

Cumberland Council is seeking a skilled and experienced Park Maintenance Specialist to join our Open Spaces team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining the daily presentation and upkeep of our open spaces, sportsgrounds, playgrounds, and other public areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate large plant and equipment, including tractors and implements, to maintain open spaces and ensure they remain in excellent condition.
  • Undertake turf renovation works and other maintenance activities to ensure our open spaces are safe and suitable for use by the community.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to deliver high-quality maintenance services and ensure customer and community satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement effective maintenance plans to ensure the long-term sustainability of our open spaces.
Requirements
  • Relevant experience and demonstrated understanding of park maintenance and industry best-practice.
  • Demonstrated experience operating large plant and equipment, including tractors and implements.
  • Demonstrated experience undertaking turf renovation works.
  • Ability to work alone and maintain service schedules to specified standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal in a positive and courteous manner with the public and other workers.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team with good interpersonal skills.
  • Sound knowledge and practical application of WH&S principles and the Work Health and Safety legislation.
  • Hold a current Class C drivers Licence.
  • Hold a current 'ChemCert' (Chemical Handling) qualification.
  • Basic Computer Skills.
  • Hold a current General Induction for Construction Work in NSW (white card).
