The Senior AOD Clinician will work with a multidisciplinary team to provide timely interventions to consumers who present to the emergency department with complex psychosocial needs. The role involves mental health assessment, drug and alcohol assessment, psychosocial assessment, review of current treatment, planning of care after discharge from ED, and assertive community follow up if required.

Key Responsibilities:

">
  • Work closely with consultants to guide and lead the MDT in making high-level clinical decisions that lead to quality outcomes for consumers.">
  • Support the clinical integration and communication of existing teams, including the ED care coordination team, Rapid Assessment team, and AOD in-reach services.">
  • Collaborate with the MH & AOD Hub team and Emergency Department to assess and highlight risks and considerations around the client's substance use and its impact on management of their MH issues.">
  • Provide support and advice around the management of the physical and emotional well-being of patients in relation to their substance use presentation.">

Requirements:

">
  • Eligible for registration as a nurse in Victoria with Division 1 or 3 qualifications.">
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in the AOD or related sector, preferably in a leadership or supervisory role.">
  • Experience in addiction medicine and/or related fields is highly desirable.">
  • Current National criminal history check or willingness to obtain, and NDIS Worker Screening Check (if applicable).">

This position is part of a collaborative model of service delivery that brings together the Addiction Medicine, Mental Health, and Emergency Department teams to provide specialized care to patients presenting with high acuity mental health and AOD issues.
