  • Produce insightful and comprehensive reporting on Indigenous affairs issues.

We are seeking a highly skilled journalist to cover Indigenous affairs across Australia, with a strong network of contacts within Indigenous communities.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years' experience in national journalism, preferably working in digital news, with excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills.

As a team player and organised multitasker, the successful applicant will be able to deal with tight deadlines, communicate sensitively and effectively with Indigenous peoples, and generate interesting original content and cover stories in innovative ways.

Key Responsibilities include:

  1. Conducting research and interviews to gather information for articles and reports
  2. Writing and editing engaging and informative articles and reports
  3. Developing and maintaining a network of contacts within Indigenous communities
  4. Working closely with colleagues to plan and coordinate coverage of Indigenous affairs issues
  5. Staying up-to-date with current events and developments in Indigenous affairs

Requirements:

  • At least five years' experience in national journalism, preferably working in digital news
  • Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong network of contacts within Indigenous communities
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
