Job Description

This position is responsible for delivering aeromedical interventions, police response and search & rescue operations in Tasmania.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team to deliver rapid and effective solutions to emergency situations.

This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure.

Aircrew Officers must be able to think critically and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver SAR, EMS and police missions across Tasmania
  • Work on a 4/4 roster for a genuine work-life balance
  • Conduct critical missions including winch operations over land and water, primary response tasks, SAR missions and inter-facility transfers
Required Skills and Qualifications

The following are mandatory requirements for this role:

  • Strong communication skills
  • A safety-first attitude
  • Enthusiasm and drive to achieve and maintain the highest level of competency for Medical Transport and Emergency Service Operations
  • Hold or obtain a Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Tasmania RWVP)
  • Domiciled within 2 hours drive of Hobart
  • Minimum 500 hours as a Helicopter Aircrew Officer
  • Certificate IV Aviation – Aircrew Officer
  • SAR/EMS experience on B412 or EC/H145
  • Winch Endorsement
  • NVIS qualification
  • CASA Class 2 Medical Certificate
  • Level 2 Occupational Health and Safety First Aid Qualification
  • Crew Resource Management / Human Factors
  • HUET/EBS Qualified
  • Dangerous Good Awareness
  • Ability to pass the LifeFlight Functionality Assessment (ACO)
Highly Desirable

The following are highly desirable skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum 100 hours NVIS experience, including night winching
  • Front Left Hand Seat Operations (IFR)
  • AROC (Aeronautical Radio Operator's Certificate)
  • FLIR operations
  • Be fully vaccinated against MMR, Varicella, Pertussis, Hepatitis B
Assessment Requirements

The following assessments are required for this role:

  • Abdominal Strength Test – 30 sit-ups under 2 minutes
  • Upper Body Strength Test – 20 push-ups under 2 minutes
  • Safe lifting techniques – 5 kettlebell deadlifts
  • 1km Equipment Transfer (16kg) – under 10 minutes
  • 500m Stretcher Carry (16kg) – under 6 minutes
