Culturally Sensitive Family Support Specialist

The Kinship Care Caseworker will be responsible for providing case management and ongoing support to carers and children involved in statutory kinship care placements.
This includes visiting children in kinship care placements, identifying training and support needs, and preparing accurate documents and reports.
You will be expected to work collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide case management and ongoing support to carers and children involved in statutory kinship care placements
- Identify training and support needs of carers and children, particularly in terms of cultural competence and connection to the Aboriginal community
- Prepare accurate documents and reports, including case notes, incident reports, and court reports
- Advocate for children and families in ways that advance organisational objectives
- Work collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and families
- Certificate, Diploma, or Degree qualification in Community Services, Social Work, and/or substantial experience in the field
- Knowledge and practical experience in the child welfare field
- Demonstrated experience in identifying risks in case management/work practice and implementing procedures to minimise/eliminate negative outcomes and improve practice
- Ability to listen respectfully, facilitate the resolution of clients' and colleagues' problems in culturally respectful ways, and work towards resolution
- Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), Working with Children's Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain), and Victorian Driver Licence
