As a Family Support Specialist, you have the opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of children and families.You will work with families to identify support needs and develop safety plans using evidence-based tools. You will conduct risk assessments and provide expert advice while ensuring that all voices are heard and respected.This is a dynamic role where you will work closely with victim-survivors, children, and men as fathers to ensure their voices are heard and respected. You will also help keep adults using violence accountable and in view.Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct risk and needs assessments to identify support needs

  • Work closely with victim-survivors, children, and men as fathers to ensure their voices are heard and respected
  • Provide secondary consultation and expert advice
  • Help keep adults using violence accountable and in view
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification (or currently enrolled and working towards this)
  • OR 5 years relevant professional experience and willing to undertake further study to gain equivalent qualification by June 2026
  • OR related qualification as per mandatory minimum qualification requirements and willing to undertake further study to gain equivalent qualification by June 2026
  • OR significant cultural knowledge and experience or lived experience, and faced barriers to educational pathways and have a willingness to meet minimum or equivalent qualification within 10 years
  • OR considered exempt under policy (practitioners who were part of specialist family violence practitioner workforce prior to 2021)
