About this opportunity

Programmed Electrical Technologies department currently has multiple openings for skilled Communication Technicians to work in Darwin on a full-time basis. This is a great chance to join a team that installs data infrastructure across various customer sites and installations.

Nature of position: Full-Time

Location: Northern Territory

Salary: 80,000 - 90,000 + Super

Key Responsibilities:

    • Analyze technical drawings, specifications, and work areas to determine equipment positioning and connections
    • Identify faults in telecommunications equipment using instruments like ohmmeters, voltmeters, ammeters, and transmission measuring equipment
    • Connect wires and cables to appliances
    • Adjust, replace, or repair faulty items, and test equipment using electronic instruments
    • Install cabling for telephone, radio, pay TV, and computer transmission
    • Join cables and seal sheaths with lead and thermoplastic
    • Erect, test, and maintain aerial and underground wires and cables, as well as radio and mobile phone antennae
    • Install telecommunications equipment and appliances such as telephones, switchboards, and data transmission equipment

About You:

To be considered for this role, you will need to have an open registration cabling license and a strong commitment to providing high-quality work while prioritizing your safety and the safety of others. Additionally, you will need to have

  • Certificate III in Telecommunications (desired)
  • Experience in defence or commercial and industrial works
  • Defence clearance (advantageous)
  • Current driver's license
  • Demonstrate a professional approach to work
  • Execute work to a high standard
  • A strong commitment to and understanding of quality, environmental, occupational health and safety management systems
