Senior Legislation Lawyer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Legislation Lawyer to join our team and support a federal government agency within its Automation and Artificial Intelligence space.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of law and innovation, contributing to a diverse and high-impact legislative portfolio across the agency.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Drafting Explanatory Statements (ES) and Explanatory Memoranda (EM).
  • Instructing the Office of Parliamentary Counsel (OPC) on legislative matters.
  • Contributing to a diverse portfolio of legislative work across the agency.
  • Reviewing and advising on secrecy provisions within legislation.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in legislative drafting or legal advisory roles related to legislation.
  • Familiarity with privacy law is beneficial, though not essential.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable advice.
